Good afternoon art lovers!
Today I want to tell you about the exhibition Arte Genova in Fiera di Genova on the fairground at the beginning of Corso Italia.
From the 17th until the 20th of february Genova hosted the Arte Genova exhibition for the thirteenth year in a row. Four days for visitors to utterly dive in modern and contemporary art.
More than a thousand works of art were waiting for the bulk of visitors that also this year didn't stay away. After Fiera di Genova welcomed more than 20.000 visitors the last year it was no surprise that this year's exhibition was a big hit aswell.
My friend and I went on the first day, Friday the 17th of february. The ticket price was 8€ and at the beginning I thought it was expensive - but than we entered the hall. It was bigger than I even imagined in my wildest dreams. Maybe because I didn't really informed myself before I went there, as usual.
The size of the exhibition was really impressive and the whole atmosphere was so special.
The exhibition was placed in one of the big warehouses of the fairground near the port. It was a wide place but the atmosphere was not boring or cold at all. It was filled with art from one side to the other and we didn't even know where to get started. It wasn't impersonal as you could expect it to be in a warehouse, but very familiar even though this is hard to imagine. The familiar feeling that we all came together for art.
We spent almost three hours there and we weren't able to see everything. Since we didn't expected this dimensions we made an appointment in the afternoon so we had to leave after these three hours. Nevertheless we didn't want to hurry because we preferred to get most out of what we saw instead of seeing everything with too little time and not to remember anything at all.
It was a motley mash-up with famous artist, same as unknown artists too; From paintings to sculptures.
This exhibition was not only made for old hands and connoisseurs, but actually for newcomer like me aswell. I have to say that I haven't been really interested in Arts before this year in Genova. But since I've been to Italy I got infected and I try to take along as much about it as possible. Maybe because in history of Arts it has always been about Italy.
But let's focus on Arte Genova again. For me this exhibtion was a big surprise and broadened my mind for contemporary art.
I know it's over for now, but I can't entrust you enough to go there next year! Even if you are not that much into contemporary art or art at all, it's a great experience - you are still free to say you don't like it afterwards :-)
So far for now. Stay tuned to read about the Andy Warhol Exhibition in Palazzo Ducale in the next post!
Don't forget to keep your mind open!
All the best, Lara
