Art In Genova // Exhibition: Andy Warhol

I am finally back from our ski holiday - a week offline - and today I will tell you about the Andy Warhol Exhibition in Palazzo Ducale!

The Palazzo Ducale hosted the exhibition from the 21st of october 2016 until the 26th of february 2017. Actually the exhibition is longer in town than I am :-)

By the way: Palazzo Ducale is the beautiful building at Piazza de Ferrari. In 2001 the G8 summit took place there. Today it is a very important cultural and art center in Liguria.

I passed by almost a hundred times and I didn't want to miss it. But I went there only a few days before it ended, the 24th of february. And lucky as we were we just hit the day with the biggest discount for us!
Instead of paying 13€ or 11€ with reduction, we payed only 5€! We have the GreenCard Giovani, so we had a reduction anyway but after 2 pm there was a special offer and of course we had to catch that. ( Sooner or later I will make a post about my tips for Genova and I will tell you a bit more about the GreenCard Giovani )

At this point I have to say again that I am not very well informed about anything regarding art - even though I certainly heared about Warhol and saw some of his famous pieces.

The exposition organized exactly 30 years after Warhol died (february 1987) called Warhol Pop Society included around 170 pieces of art -paintings, printings, drawings and polaroids.

The whole exhibition was very nice built. Colorful walls, mirrored walls, slopes, film clips and quotations created a special atmosphere that catched the visitors and kept them in a Warhol-World.

There was a free audio guide, but I prefer to set my own focus and to be alone with my thoughts and ideas. So I didn't take it. But for all the interested ones there were many information boards that described the importance of Warhols art very well. Normally I'm not someone who reads everything on these boards, but this exposition really catched me and I read everything from beginning to end just to make sure I wouldn't miss a single piece of information.

Since it is forbidden to take pictures in this exhibition, all pictures in this post (beside one) are from the facebook page "Genova Tourismo" and all credits go to them.

I enjoyed this exhibition very much and my friend, that didn't plan to go there and just joined me spontaneously was really happy that she decided to come. If you have the chance to visit a Andy Warhol exposition I can only suggest you to seize that opportunity and go for it. Not only because Warhol is a must-see artist that was and still is very important. It is very interesting to look a bit further than the famous Marilyn print.

Furthermore Andy Warhol himself seemed to be a very own piece of art as a person; I enjoyed the film clips a lot where you got a glimpse of how he appeared to be.

If all of this is not reason enough for your to go for a visit, I cannot say more than that in my eyes you are missing out of something very interesting :-)

Ich bin endlich zurück aus dem Ski Urlaub - eine Woche offline - und heute erzähle ich euch von der Andy Warhol Ausstellung im Palazzo Ducale. 

Der Palazzo Ducale beherbergte die Ausstellung von 21. Oktober 2016 bis zum 26. Februar 2017. Die Ausstellung ist also schon länger in der Stadt als ich es bin :-)

Ich bin bestimmt hundert Mal daran vorbei gekommen und wollte sie auf keinen Fall verpassen. Dennoch, ich bin erst kurz vor dem letzten Tag dazu gekommen, sie zu besuchen; nämlich am 24. Februar. Und wir Glückspilze haben genau den Tag erwischt, an dem wir den größten Rabatt bekommen haben! 

Statt 13€ oder 11€ ermäßigt haben wir nur 5€ ermäßigt mit der GreenCard Giovani bezahlt! Mit dieser Karte bekommen wir sowieso Rabatt auf den Eintrittspreis, aber an diesem Tag gab es ein besonderes Angebt nach 14:00 Uhr - das mussten wir natürlich ausnutzen!

( Früher oder später werde ich einen Post mit Tipps für Genua machen und euch auf jeden Fall etwas mehr über die GreenCard Giovani erzählen)

An dieser Stelle muss ich einmal wieder sagen, dass ich nicht sehr gut informiert bin über alles, was Kunst betrifft - auch wenn ich natürlich von Warhol gehört habe und eine bekannte Kunstwerke kenne.

Die Ausstellung, welche genau 30 Jahre nach seinem Tod organisiert war und Warhol Pop Society genannt wurde, umfasste circa 170 Kunstwerke - Gemälde, Drucke, Zeichnungen und Polaroids. 

Die gesamte Ausstellung war toll aufgebaut. Bunte Wände, Spiegelwände, Schrägen, Filmausschnitte und Zitate haben für eine besondere Atmosphäre gesorgt, die die Besucher gefangen nahm in eine Warhol-Welt. 

Es gab einen kostenlosen Audio-Guide, aber ich ziehe es vor meinen Fokus selbst zu legen und allein zu bleiben mit meinen Gedanken und Ideen. Deswegen habe ich keinen Audio-Guide in Anspruch genommen.

Allerdings gab es für alle Interessierten jede Menge Informationstafeln, die sehr gut die Wichtigkeit und Bedeutung von Warhols Kunst darstellten.

Normalerweise bin ich nicht der Mensch, der all diese Tafeln genau studiert, aber die Ausstellung hat mich wirklich gefesselt und in diesem Fall habe ich alles von Anfang bis Ende gelesen um auch ja keine winzige Information zu verpassen. 

Da es verboten ist in der Ausstellung Fotos zu machen, stammen die Fotos in diesem Post (bis auf eines) von der Facebook-Seite "Genova Tourismo".

Ich habe die Ausstellung wirklich genossen und auch meine Freundin, die diesen Besuch nicht geplant hat und einfach spontan mitgekommen ist, war froh über ihre Entscheidung.

Wenn du die Möglichkeit hast, eine Andy Warhol Ausstellung zu besichtigen, würde ich die Chance auf jeden Fall nutzen. 

Nicht nur weil Warhol ein Must-See Künstler ist der sehr bedeutend war und noch immer ist. Es ist sehr interessant einen Blick hinter den bekannten Marilyn-Druck zu werfen und etwas mehr von ihm zu sehen.

Außerdem scheint auch Andy Warhol selbst ein eigenes Kunstwerk als Person gewesen zu sein; gerade deswegen haben mir die Filmausschnitte so gefallen, die einen kleinen Einblick über die Person zugelassen haben, die er gewesen zu sein scheint.

Und wenn das alles nicht Grund genug für euch ist um der Ausstellung einen Besuch abzustatten, kann ich nur soviel sagen: Ich verpasst wirklich etwas! :-)
